Evil huffed at him and crossed her arms, watching the moron as he tried to figure out which way to go. She shook her head and waited for him to make his choice. When he did, she said nothing and followed him quietly. Evil looked down at her feet, feeling she badly wanted to take a shower. Maybe she'd find a clean lake or stream or something to bathe in after this.
When he gave her his name, Evil hardly gave any acknowledgment. Haru? She thought back to see if she ever remembered someone by the name. But she had not lived within the main camp at all. How would she know? Evil closed her eyes and sighed a bit. Why was he giving her his name? She was just going to leave as soon as this embarrassment was over. She wanted it all to just end and be done with. She'd be so glad when it was over. "My name is none of your concern," she answered a bit darkly and bristled. But after a few moments of silence yet again, "Evil." Her eyes shifted toward him slightly, "my name is Evil."
She looked ahead, not speaking at all for the rest of their walk. She only lifted her head when the town came into view. It was so strange to see it so active when it was dark. But it was perpetual night. Still, Evil could not get used to hearing all the noise and bustling of people when it was supposed to be silent. Evil slowed down a bit and grew tensed. She didn't want to go into the town...but she needed a new dress.
In the town, she noticed the looks. The looks she got every time she dared try to go into a town. The glares of knowing eyes and the hatred boiling off them and radiating onto her like a sunburn. She would return with a dirty look and sometimes a bare of her fangs. She looked like his god damn slave...like he had asked her to come with him to use her. The looks...the looks were bothering her so badly. Evil felt so out of place and so alone...

It was nice to be in a town again, to see the illumination of lights. The dark didn't bother him, not at all, it simply depressed him. Ever since the sun vanished, Haru no longer had the pleasure to sun himself on a rock. The distant memory caused him to frown and shake his head. As the two moved further into the village Haru began to notice the intense stares directed at Evil and he shifted his eyes towards her. She looked pissed (but when didn't she look pissed?) and somewhat perturbed by the glares from the town's inhabitants. A frown creased Haru's lips just as an idea sprung into his head. Maybe if he brought her up to his "level" she'd feel a bit more comfortable. This would be a long shot idea.
As the two moved into a thicker crowd, Haru placed his arm about Evil's shoulders and offered her a small smile. "So," he began in an attempt to strike up a conversation, "what kind of dress are you looking for?" He shifted his eyes about the crowd, reading their expressions as the two passed by. "Something fancy or plain?" His dark eyes studied her face for a few moments before offering something else, "after you get a dress, why not grab a bite to eat with me, hm?"

Everything was fine and dandy until he put his damn arm around her shoulders. Instantly, Evil bristled and pulled away from him. "Don't touch me....please. It makes it seem like...." She huffed and shook her head, "it's nice of you to try and make me more comfortable. But please just don't touch me." She rubbed her shoulders and noticed some men looking at the two and laughing. Instantly she snarled and her eyes shifted to a deep crimson as she glared at them. Those bastards! But quickly she calmed herself down and her eyes faded back to their ebony color.
His touch...it had sent a jolt through her and she had felt herself leaning into him. Her hormones had spiked right then. It was so strange as no one had managed a reaction out of her so quickly before. Evil was a virgin with experience. She had never let anyone into her, not that they wanted in her, anyways. Once they figured out she was a half breed, it was all over. But she had plenty of hands on experience for a male to be pleased with her.
"Hn." She replied, looking around, "something efficient. Something that will last me long enough and I can move well in it if needed. Also, I guess I'd like it to make me look a little nicer..." Her eyes shifted toward him and she arched a brow at him. "A bite to eat?" She shook her head, "Keep dreaming."

Haru's ears twitched as the laughter of the man reached him and his sable eyes shifted casually towards them. A few moments after Evil's outburst, Haru shook his head and sighed. He had noticed when her weight shifted in him, but that was just a for a split second. It was slightly amusing to him. Returning his gaze to her eyes, Haru gave her a slightly questioning look. "Hm." Looking away he shrugged and sighed a bit. The fact that she had told him not to touch made him want to touch her. Maybe he should put his hand on her lower back? Take her hand? Oh, now it was turning into a game. A game of what he could get away with. The idea made him laugh, and so he started.
His first move was brushing his shoulder against hers as they walked, then keeping that contact - did she notice? Or was she taking it as a simply mistake? "If you're looking for something efficient, why not get a ladies tunic and some pants and boots? Probably cheaper, and a allows much more movement." As he spoke the back of his hand brushed against hers. "And why not grab a bite with me, eh? Would you rather eat squirrel or something? In town you can have something good."

"The requirements I have to make for your helping me is do you a favor. If you wish to grab me a bite to eat, then that is your favor taken up," She responded to the asking of food first. "After that, I will be on my way. If you choose not to use it now, I guess I'll be in debt to you or something. But I prefer you use it now." His body contact on her own made her shiver a bit and she moved forward a bit faster to keep away from him. Her eyes flicked toward him in warning to keep his hands off her. She wasn't intersted in sleeping with a pure blood. "I'd prefer a dress. I'm sure I can find a good enough dress." She stopped at a merchant's shop and begin to check what he had. She noticed the look from him and returned it. Then she proceeded to looking again.
"Like this, except for this may be a bit too big for me. Also, it's short-sleeved which isn't good for cold weather. Nights are generally cold, no?" She put the dress back and moved to another booth, looking through there and then another. "So, what'll it be? Bite to eat?" She picked up a dress and grinned, "here we go!" She was holding an Irish dress that was black with a white long-sleeved chemise below it and a belt with a pouch. "I will get this. It will work perfectly for what I need and it's comfortable. It's in my price range, too."
She walked over to the seller, ignoring his reluctance and buying the dress. Her eyes darted toward him, "I'll be right back." She vanished and when she reappeared in front of him she was in her new dress. Her hair was also in a new style. The long strands that had hung in front were now braided back and a silver accessory was keeping them together. There was some hair not braided and hanging down to be lost in her long raven-hair. "What do you think?" She twirled and showed off the dress. "Much better, yes?"

A favor? A give and take kind of thing, then, eh? Well he'd take the favor now. If not, then she might run off and never pay him back. He was quite sure, at this point in time, that after they parted their ways later on, they wouldn't see each other again any time soon. Maybe, even, never again. "Well, then I'll simply use my favor as soon as we're out of here," Haru murmured quietly - mostly to himself. The look she shot him as soon as physical contact was made between the two sent a jolt of amusement through the izumi. This game was actually turning out to be some kind of fun.
They stopped at a merchants shop - most of the stuff looked over-priced, and some of the clothes were just plain crap (in Haru's opinion). Looking at the dress that Evil pulled out, Haru gave a slight hum. That dress wasn't so bad. So, he continued to watch Evil flip through the dresses until she found one she liked.
He waited for a few moments while she changed, and when she reappeared in front of him she was in her new dress and her hair was done differently. He gave a nod of approval. "It looks nice," he said with a grin as he stepped out into the illuminated streets. "Now, for that favor..." he said, a bit absently as he looked to his left and then to his right. "There's a nice tavern somewhere in this village, if I recall. They serve good food and have nice rooms." The last bit of his statement was a bit of an invitation to her, but could easily be dismissed as her reading too much into it if she blew up.
Moving through the crowded streets Haru listened to the yelling merchants as they attempted to draw customers to their stands with booming voices, the crying of spoiled children, and the gossip of the women on the street. He was walking at Evil's side, centimeters from brushing against her, still at his game. He'd get ever so close, then - just before contact - he'd move away while wondering, all the while, what exactly was going through Evil's mind. Then they reached the tavern.
Inside it was bustling with business. As Haru took a seat at one of the tables, he glanced around. Plenty of dirt-smudged and unshaven travelers had decided that this was where they and their party would dine tonight. There was probably a huge caravan passing through, or something. They usually sold some pretty interesting - and illegal - items. A few minutes later, Haru had a cup of sake in front of him and was sipping absently at it as his dark eyes shifted back and forth between Evil and the surrounding crowd. "Enjoying everything so far?" He asked her, a smile curving his soft lips.

She gave a wide smile as his nod was one of approval. This dress was much better then the one she had been wearing. For one, it fit and for two it looked a lot nicer and made her apperance much more charming. But the smile quickly faded as he mentioned the favor. "Yes, the favor," she muttered and her mood soured all over again. She wasn't looking forward to what he had in mind. What horrible thing would he make her do? There was no way he was just going to take her out to dinner or whatever. There had to be something else he wanted! Something else that was on his male mind. It was what all guys wanted and she knew it's what he wanted.
His tavern mention that also went along with the rooms made her bristle slightly. She had to clench her white teeth together to keep from starting a stream of insults in his general direction. The rooms! "Is that so?" She said through her teeth, "so, then, which room you gonna pick, hm? Or do they pick for you?" Her dark eyes grew cold and unhappy and her guard was placed up. The son of a bitch...Why had she accepted his invitation of help again? Evil could've just waltz in here on her own and got herself a dress. It wouldn't have ended well...but she would've gotten the dress one way or another without his help. Evil rubbed her forehead and let loose a heavy sigh. "Let's go, then. I don't have all day....night....whatever, you know what I mean." She muttered and followed him, ignoring his stupid little game. If he touched her she would make sure her claws went into his face when she slapped him. Then she would storm off and be all alone again. It had been that way for quite some time now, Evil being alone. She hadn't even tried to find companionship because she didn't want it and no one would take a half breed.
The crowded streets made her have a headache and she closed her eyes for a few moments to try and make it go away. But the yells of merchants, screams of children, and all the gossip and loud laughters still rang in her ears. Evil bit her lower lip softly until she felt a small trickle of liquid on her tongue. Then came a sharp pain and she stopped instantly to realize her fang had cut a very small way into her lip. Evil couldn't help but give a small curse and wiped the blood away. At least the cut was unnoticable to others unless they looked very hard. Though she wasn't out to impress anyone, anyways. Hopefully the tavern was not as loud and full of people. Maybe it would be orderly and quiet? But Evil could only watch her hopes sink as the two entered the place she had labeled as 'Hell on Earth.' Dinner with a pure blood...she had really gone insane...
Entering the place was like entering a whole new level of noise. Evil looked around as the place was bursting with activity and groaned. Her headache seemed to grow worse at the sight of so many humans. Evil merely followed Haru in a complete silence with her head down as they made their way to a seat. The smell in here was pretty horrible, too. Her nose wrinkled and she snorted to try and clear her nostrils of the scent of sweaty humans. A displeased frown crossed her face as she realized that she failed and it was still in the air. Didn't they know how to take a bath? Or was there too much fear of a demon being around and killing them? Humans were pretty pathetic when it came to facing them. The things were so fearful...
While Haru had gotten sake Evil had just gotten some water. She sipped at it absently and looked toward the window. Looking out of it, she wondered when she was finally going to have freedom. Anything to get away from all of this! Her eyes were forced away by curiousity to see who all was in here. It was mostly travelers with their party or the lone traveler with a whore. Couldn't there be a guy in this world that didn't think about anything but sex? They were all so mindless and stupid, no wonder they thought they were dominant over females. They were too dumb to realize females had much more sense and smarts then what they're given credit for.
"Hn," Evil merely replied to his question and took another drink of her water. She set it down and sighed, thinking she might as well humor him. It would just be so she could get a bite to eat. It wasn't every day someone would take her out for food. Her eyes absently skimmed the menu in front of her as she searched for what she wanted. "Guess so."

No, she wasn't enjoying anything. Not at all. A frown slowly replaced Haru's grin as his dark eyes slowly shifted away from Evil and towards a few people who were setting up to play some music. Humans, even though they were quite stupid and lacked any kind of morals, they did know how to play an instrument. One man sat upon the stage in the candle light with a lute cradled in his arms, while another stood beside him with a pan flute, and a third held a viol carefully in his hands. One could tell a real musician by the way they held and cared for their instruments. The better shape of the instruments, the better the music.
As the soft music started up most of the conversation about the tavern died down to a dull roar. Some of the waitresses moved about the room and extinguished some candles so that the people on the stage were highlighted. This was prime time for pick-pockets and murders. Oh, the fun of taverns.
After two more glasses of sake Haru's food was placed in front of him. Stew was about all they had to offer, as well as some bread and cheese. In larger towns there would be a much larger menu, but in a place like this (especially in times like the present) good food was hard to come by. Luckily the stew was warm, the bread was soft, and the cheese wasn't molded.
By the time Haru had finished his meal most of the men had cleared out and returned to their caravans after a night of drinking. The waitresses were cleaning up the broken dishes and chair while the remaining customers finished up. Dark eyes drifted towards Evil, and he gave her a slight nod of his head. "Thank you for eating with me. Although I might've found better company elsewhere, the time spent with you was... charming." He stood, offered her a small bow and walked over to the counter which the tavern owner was wiping down and polishing. He exchanged a few words with the man, placed a few coins on the table, and then received a small key. Time for bed, then, Haru thought as he started towards the stairs. He moved up slowly, but gave a quick glance behind him towards the table where he and Evil had sat throughout their quiet dinner. He half expected her to be gone at the point.
In his room Haru glanced about. There were two window, one on the left wall and one on the wall straight ahead. The bed was to his immediate right, it's side pressed against the far right wall with the headboard placed against the wall the door was located on. Beneath the window of the far wall was a small desk on which a small candle was flickering. It was cozy enough, and warm. Sitting on the edge of the bed, Haru unlaced his boots and quickly kicked them off before tugging the tunic over his head, followed by the light cotton shirt underneath. A shiver coursed through Haru as the cool air pressed itself against his scared chest. Standing, Haru folded his clothes and set his boots upright on the floor beside his head before he moved over to the door and locked it. Tugging back the covers to the bed Haru finally removed his pants, quickly folded them and placed them with his other clothes, and moved his bare body into the bed. Pulling the covers around him he rested his head on the soft pillow and closed his eyes.

"They play nice," Evil commented quietly. "A lovely tune for a night such as this." How could someone play something so lovely when this night was so horrid? What was he going to try and do? When would he make his next move? Her eyes shifted toward him and she watched him frown and kept a small twitch of a smile come to her lips. It was nice letting him know just how little interest she had in this. Even if it had was in small hints and gestures, it was still so much fun and so relieving to let him know. Maybe he would lay off all the attempts now. Probably not, but it was worth a try, wasn't it? She finished off her water and decided to have a drink with alcohol in it. Her headache was slowly dying away with each sip she took of the beverage. Alcohol always did help with the pain, didn't it? It wasn't a healthy way to stop it but it worked and that's all that mattered right now.
Evil looked at the food that was placed in front of her and began to eat in silence. She was still listening to the music as it lulled in the air. Her eyes closed and she gave a sigh of content. It was nice to fill up her stomach because who knew when the next time would be. She finished it off about the same time that he had finished and she looked up at him. He had thanked her for her time and she merely gave a small nod in response. Oh, I'm just so sure you could've found better company, she hissed with venom in her head and closed her eyes. She stood up and brushed herself off. Asshole.
While he went to get himself a room, Evil was preparing to leave. But she found herself lingering and thinking about everything. While he had been kind to her and was now...letting her go...without asking for what she kept expecting...she had been difficult. A small frown crossed her soft lips and she sighed, figuring she owed him a thank you and an apology. She was going to hate this with every fiber of her being but she knew she had to do it. Evil looked in his direction and noticed he was looking toward her. So she pretended to be leaving until he looked away and went toward his room. In utter silence Evil followed him to his room and kept out of sight so he was not aware she was there. The woman slipped into the shadows to enter his room and watched him undress. Her cheeks began to burn, she realized, and she felt her breath slightly quicken as her heart beat faster. Her hormones were still bothering her? This was getting ridiculous! Was she attracted to him or something or was this just a lustful want?
As he laid down to rest, Evil slowly made her way out of the shadows. "Haru..." she murmured softly, "Haru...are you still awake?" She moved toward where he lay and knelt down beside the bed. The female watched him for a few moments, knowing he'd probably ask why the hell she was still there. But she forced on a weak smile and forced the words out of her mouth. "Thank you. For your kindess today...it was...refreshing. And I'm sorry for being such a difficult individual. I just...used to be a pure blood once, but something happened and now I resent them. But I shouldn't have taken it out on you." She moved away a bit, looking away, though her eyes shifted back toward him. Her cheeks turned red yet again as she thought of his body. It caused her to scoot away more and looked down, feeling ashamed of herself.

Silence was one of the most comforting sounds to Haru, especially in the comfort of a warm room and a soft bed. Such a silence only lasted a few moments before a delicate voice drifted into the air and sank into his ears. Haru's dark eyes opened slightly and stopped on Evil's. "Yes," he said, watching her, wondering what was going through her mind. Was she going to pull something, here? Act nice before grabbing his clothes and running off with them and his money? Annoyance seeped into his tone as he lingered on the though. "I'm still awake. What do you want?" But that wasn't part of her curriculum this time, and he figured this out quickly. She was thanking him. Haru propped himself up on his elbow and watched her. "Really? A thank you?" He paused for a moment. "No insults? No... 'pure blood' crap?" He watched the weak smile take form upon her lips and his eyes softened slightly. "You're welcome," he said with a slight nod. "Thank you for having dinner with me," he thanked her once again as she turned and stepped away from the bed.
He pushed himself into a sitting position and pulled the blanket over his lower half in an attempt to keep himself somewhat decent in front of her. "Used to be?" Haru asked while questioning eyes looked her over. "A bit of a downgrade," he murmured, scratching his chin. More silence ensued as well as thoughts which clouded his mind. Haru closed his eyes and shook his head. He was trying hard not to get himself into a situation with this girl (which was completely against his nature), but something in him wanted to show kindness to her. Why, though? Why?
An annoyed sound slipped quietly through his lips as he scratched the back of his head and looked down at the bed. She'll take this the wrong way, and you'll walk out of here a fixed man, Haru, he thought. As she backed away a bit more, Haru reached out and grabbed her wrist. "I'll share the bed with you," he said. "I'm not expecting a favor out of it, though," he added, just in case she did happen to take offense to it. "How 'bout it?" Haru asked, moving over to provide Evil a place to lie down. "Just... make sure you remove your shoes," he said, nodding towards her feet as he released her. "If you decide to sleep here, that is." With that, Haru laid down and turned to face the wall as he pulled the covers over himself once more. What an interesting night this was turning out to be...
