Picture: Alias: Kira Name: Light Yagami Age: 27 Gender: Male Weight: 56kg Height: 5’ 11” Hair: Brown, with a hint of orange Eyes: Honey brown Year?: Graduated Job: Math Teacher
Personality: Light Yagami is a hardworking and talented man, with very little humility. He can act like nobody’s business, though, so he may come off as humble and modest of his achievements, even though he’s anything but. Consider him the ultimate puppeteer; he manipulates any and everything under the sun to get his way, even going as far as to manipulate himself in some situations. He appears nice enough, and in some ways he is, but he is a devoted control freak who always has a firm grip on himself and others. If he can’t control it, he has to understand it, because once he understands it he can try again and win.
Light has a very cynical and jaded view of life, which is why he chose to become Kira. He sees people and the world at large as “rotting,” meaning that society has decayed to the point where it’s functional, but massively flawed at the core. He thinks that things like politics serve only to confuse the people and start wars in the name of money and religion, which are two things he has very little respect for, being both a hard-nosed atheist and teacher paid the average wages. As Kira, he calls himself “God,” but he really means it metaphorically; throughout history, the beings with the most control have been gods, so it’s only logical that he is like one in that he is always in command.
A major aspect of his personality is boredom. He hates it. For him, life is always predictable and monotonous, because there are never any real challenges. Everything has always been so easy for him. So if something shows up that he can’t figure out, or an obstacle he doesn’t pass on the first attempt, he hurls himself into it with a grin on his face. If it’s interesting, he dives straight at it and gives it all of his attention until it’s done. After that, he’s already bored again and wanting another, better challenge to face.
Emotions are also an important aspect of him. The best way to describe them is as two opaque bubbles, one inside the other; he has the one on the outside, that swirls and changes at will like bubbles tend to do, and then he has a smaller bubble on the inside which is nearly identical, but it bounces around under the bigger bubble with little control. They are his outer and inner emotions, respectively, and they work in much the same way. You cannot pop, or even touch the center without getting rid of the outer one first, and his outer shell completely obscures the feelings he really has. He feels anger, kindness, hate and love like any normal person does, he just tends to shove it under the rug. Such unsightly things, they barely help him at all except in matters of motivation.
Physical Description: Tall, but not imposingly. Sharp, but not edged. He has short, well-combed and clean brown hair, with versatile eyes that can have every emotion from fury to adoration. His face is almost angelic in its subtle proportions and angles, which is probably why so many of his students tend to look him right in the eye when he’s giving a lesson. He speaks calmly and carefully, with a hidden precision and mincing of words that makes him sound elegant and smooth, yet at the same time firm and commanding. When he speaks, people obey, whether they know it or not. His body is not anything particularly special, being of thin frame and average strength. His muscles are wiry and his hips are somewhat narrow, but he doesn’t at all look feminine, and he carries himself with flawless posture and a confident glow.
History: Light was born smart, and raised smart with every opportunity a genius deserves. His father was the principal of the high school and his mother was a homemaker, so he grew up with the strict dad pushing him to succeed and the calming mom who groomed him to have confidence. Lots and lots of confidence, as well as a rather high opinion of himself. He has a fairly good relationship with his little sister, being both protective and helpful towards her, and she believed almost everything that he said. This was what finally taught him the benefits and joys of manipulation, and he used the skills he learned at home constantly throughout his life.
He was always a fantastic student, right from the start. He finished ever assignment on time, and almost never got anything under a 95 right from the moment he was able to have grades. He made normal friends, had a couple normal girlfriends, and had the typical High School experience, with a deep dissatisfaction and hatred for humanity lurking just beneath the surface. This came to a boiling point eventually, and he decided that he would just have to wipe out the rotten people one way or another. By the time he had finished with High School, he already had a rather nice plan.
He graduated from To-Oh University with a perfect 100, which very few people had gotten before. He got a job at Death Note High (hooray for Nepotism!), and works there as a math teacher while he secretly kills the rotten students off one by one. He has a Death Note, but since he sees that as a “special occasion” weapon, he only uses it to get him out of a tight spot or to finish off a particularly feisty victim who struggles too much to handle properly. Besides that, he mostly uses the ordinary knives-and-cellophane method of killing.
Other: --Television in general annoys the piss out of him, so all the news he learns comes from the papers. He gets a bit of satisfaction from using the newspaper to hide his maniacal grin while he reads about his deeds. --Oh dear god, Misa is his girlfriend. And they live together. --In a tight spot, he may take a potato chip, and eat it. Out of necessity, of course.
Secret Words: Edited Out. (My mortal foe.)
