Everything was a blur in her mind and she couldn't tell where that line was - what was real and what wasn't. There was a blur in her field of vision, someone moving around - just out of reach. Who was it? Yin? Had she come to finish her off? Was Yang alright? A soft whine escaped her lips as a wave of pain surged through her body when one of her muscles twitched involuntarily. She was afraid too much blood had been lost... and suddenly she was reminded of the magnolia tree and the red dirt. Do you want to die? came a distantly familiar voice. The soft vocals echoed through her mind and faded into silence. "No...I don't want to die," she answered quietly, "I don't want to die." Tears came to her eyes and slowly spilled from her cheeks. "Not here," she whimpered, "not now."
And suddenly she was standing. The smell of smoke and death lingered heavily in the air. The sun was setting in the west, casting its furious orange light over the world. The river in the valley was blood red, matching the damp dirt that clung to Azusa's feet. "Mom?" She called quietly. Something dripped onto her cheek, she wiped it off and looked at it. "Blood..." Azusa looked over and saw two dark eyes gazing at her. "You," she said in her mind, "why didn't you just let them kill me...?" Silence followed her question, the wind tousled her hair and carried the smell of blood and magnolias to her nose. He watched her in silence, his cold eyes locked with hers. I won't let that happen, Azusa, he said. Then again... Each time he spoke her name his voice seemed to grow lighter, higher, something was wrong...
And then she was awake, she could feel the uncomfortable itch of sand, but most of all... she was alive, breathing! Azusa's eyes moved around slowly and eventually settled upon Yang. She gave a soft smile a nodded slightly. "I'm fine..." she murmured, "he won't let anything happen." A flood of darkness invaded Azusa's vision, and she slowly slipped into a world of muddled dreams of blood, magnolias, and silver wings.
